Everything you need to know before
Is therapy confidential?
In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and a therapist. Information is not disclosed without written permission. However, there are a number of exceptions to this rule. Exceptions include:
Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse. The therapis is required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person. The therapist must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
If a client intends to harm themselves. The therapist will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in insuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, further measures may be taken without their permission in order to ensure their safety
What If I don't know what my goals are for therapy?
If you aren't sure what your goals are for therapy, your first goal is to figure that out. It may take several sessions before a direction is clarified. During the course of therapy your goals may change. However, establishing a direction for therapy will help you get the most out of the experience.
What if my insurance doesn’t cover therapy?
If you would like to see a provider at Unique Therapy even though we are not on your insurance, we can provide specialized receipts (called “superbills”) that you can submit to your insurance provider. If the services are accepted by your insurance, they would then reimburse you at their out-of-network rate.
What if my insurance doesn’t cover therapy?
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS (EAPs) are an employee benefit program offered by many employers. Employers pre-pay or cover the costs. Employees and their covered family members can utilize the confidential counseling benefits at no cost. EAPs are intended to help employees deal with personal issues that might adversely impact their work performance, health, and well-being.
